our breakup letters to 2021

Once Shiny, New 2021 came onto the scene, most of us were more than ready to break free of 2020. Worst. Bait and Switch. Ever. And last year’s Creative Writing I & II students wrote the Dear John letters to make it official.

Well, imagine our surprise when Shiny, New 2021 ended up being almost as disappointing. This year’s batch o’ Creative Writers dumped 2021 on its behind, too, hoping that 2022 will, in fact, be The One. 🤞 The assignment was the same as last year’s: write a break-up letter to Year 2021, and include some highlights, a palpable voice, and a little restraint. (All language has been censored, because this is a Family Show.) They turned out snarky, insightful, and all sorts of fabulous–all while including many of the writing tools we’ve been practicing this year. Check out their letters HERE, and feel free to let our writers know their voice is being heard by clicking on the ❤️️ icon below their posts right on the Padlet.
