beth hughes.

I'm a tech-loving, high school English teacher out to woo my students back to bibliophilia through authentic, real-world tasks. Even with three decades of teaching under my belt, there's so much left to learn.

My Reading Program
Summer Reading 2026 ☀️📚❤️ (still) summer reading 2026 📚❤️⛰️ I hope everyone is fitting in heavy doses of the three Rs this summer: Relaxing, Refueling, and lots and lots of Reading! Drop your *current* read in the comments. (No cheating.) 📚☀️❤️ I’m a bit late in posting, but this year’s data is in: Take a look at the total number of books the high schoolers in 1227 (3 English classes & 1 writing elective) read this year compared to how many they read the year before. And their summer reading goals aren’t too shabby either! Click the link in bio to read more. 📚❤️ Summer Reading 2026 📚❤️ What started as a few Friday T-shirts turned into A Thing. Thirty years in, it’s the little things that keep the Story interesting. Happy Summer Reading, Everyone! 👚📚❤️ Last year’s fun #ootd picture-swapping served as this year’s Elderly Brain Retrieval System (patent pending). So, to 2026-7 Me, I say, “You’re welcome.” We said “best wishes” today (because “goodbyes” are tough) to our outgoing Book Club President, Madeline the Fabulous. While we’ll miss her something fierce, we know she’s going to do amazing things! Thank you, Madeline, for four great years! We miss you already…🎓📚💗 These three reading machines kicked off their very own book club with a Barnes & Noble run—and took pics as proof! (They chose a great inaugural read, too—especially with the movie in the works!) Reason #1227 why I love my job! 📚❤️☀️
